Chiswick River Banksy

I managed to work out how to get to the mall at the Chiswick riverside with some cunning navigation through Ealing and Acton. The spot by the Hammersmith bridge is brilliant to paint and to relax. Lots of pubs and a park and breathtaking views of the Thames. The tidal effect is really drastic here and the house boats end up ungracefully dumped on the muddy cluttery river bed which resembles pictures of the moon with boats on it. The sun was already high and heading up into the 30’s there was no time to dawdle so I settled for a view I’d seen done by other artists in books and went to work frantically getting things on the canvas before they changed from dark to light objects and before the river slowly shrank and the boats unceremoniously rocked on there keels and listed to there twice daily land based position. The sun fried my bare feet and a man asked me if I were banksy due to my banksy t shirt (clever guy). No time for cold beers in the Blue Anchor, I fudged an impression of boat caos, two hours later, squeezed all the gear into the bike box and joined the baking seething traffic on the M4 back to civilisation and our little bit of the dear old Thames in marlow;-)
